David’s Hot Pot originated in Chengdu, with more than 30 years of experience and in 2017, they brought David’s Hot Pot to Melbourne. Due to their popularity, they expanded to other locations.
David’s Hot Pot in Melbourne combines the traditional Sichuan ingredients and premium Australian local beef tallow, to provide authentic soup bases.
They partner with local Australian farms to ensure absolute freshness and quality ingredients every day.
We went to their Melbourne CBD store on 279 La Trobe Street as this is their 5th anniversary, and that restaurant has a strong 80’s vibe and style decoration.
There are several soup base to start off, we selected the HK Style Golden Seafood soup base on one side, and on the other side of the pot we selected the Tonkatsu Big Bone Soup base which is milky in color.
As for meat there are large selection, we start off with Premium Wagyu Roll, Premium Marbled Beef Slices, Lamb Slices and Saba Fish Slices.
Don’t forget to order the Prawn Paste and Fish Paste which is smooth and delicious. Next, go over to their sauce counter and mix your own sauces, there are so many combinations to suit different taste buds.
We find the soup base naturally and full of flavour. The meats are premium and takes only a few seconds to cook in the hotpot which maintains its natural taste, even without dipping in any sauce.
They have a wide selection of cooked food, as well as sweet items to complete the meal.
The service team is very attentive and if you need help choosing or cooking, you can always check with the team.
Travel back to the 80s here, the newly renovated Melbourne CBD store caters for an unforgettable dining experience, we totally enjoyed dining at David’s Hotpot.
