To honour the Hainanese roots of the Bugis area, UOL Odeon 333 has put in the effort to curate a lineup of restaurants that are genuinely Hainanese — owned and run by Hainanese folks, serving dishes that stay true to their heritage.
And this fits perfectly with Mr. Han’s plans, the owner of Han’s. After having to close his beloved National Library outlet last year, the 79-year-old founder is excited to open his latest branch, as a tribute to his Hainanese kampong roots. Since the 1980s, the cafe has been serving Hainanese favourites like pork chops and hor fun, alongside pasta dishes and homemade soups.
Han’s Fish and Chips: Drawing on techniques passed down from Hainanese chefs who once worked for British households, Han’s version of this classic features perfectly fried, golden-battered fish that’s tender on the inside. Paired with hand-cut fries and a house-made tartar sauce, this dish is a unique blend of British tradition and Hainanese culinary craftsmanship.

There’s also 5 Senses a cosy spot serving up authentic Hainanese and Southeast Asian favourites like Beef Noodles, Herbal Mutton Soup and Seafood Mee Goreng.
Signature Hainanese Beef Noodles: Unlike most beef noodles, 5 Senses uses a broth simmered with a unique blend of herbs and spices, creating a deeply flavorful experience that pays homage to the Hainanese culinary heritage.
