The 2027 Pokémon World Championships Head to Singapore

Next year, the premier competitive event will journey to Southeast Asia for the 2027 Pokémon World Championships, taking place at the Singapore EXPO. The selection of Singapore marks an important milestone for the global tournament circuit, bringing elite TCG, video game, and mobile competitors together in the region. Theatrical Return: Pokémon: Wild Card Announced for 2027

Marking the brand’s first feature-length theatrical release in years, The Pokémon Company revealed “Pokémon: Wild Card,” scheduled to roll out beginning in 2027.

The animated feature tells the story of an aspiring Pokémon Trading Card Game competitor and the Disguise Pokémon, Mimikyu. The production is being brought to life through a collaboration between STORY inc. and CloverWorks, one of Japan’s leading animation studios, signaling an ambitious cinematic endeavor centered around the strategy and drama of the physical trading card game.

Stop-Motion Animation: Aardman Collaboration Bound for Disney+

Expanding Pokémon’s television animation footprint, the closing ceremonies gave fans an in-depth preview of “Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu.” The presentation featured Phil Rynda, Pokémon’s director of original animation, alongside key creative leadership from Britain’s celebrated animation house Aardman—the studio behind Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep.

Director Tom Parkinson, Creative Director of IP Development Nat McKay, and Model Making Creative Lead James Young walked audiences through the creative craft behind the stop-motion production. Set within the Galar region, the slapstick comedy pairs the stoic Sirfetch’d with an energetic Pichu. Z Mega Evolutions Debut in Pokémon Champions

Competitive gaming receives an immediate expansion on September 9, 2026, with the introduction of Z Mega Evolution inside Pokémon Champions.

The initial lineup includes:

  • Mega Lucario Z
  • Mega Garchomp Z
  • Mega Absol Z

These powerful variations will debut alongside Paldean favorite Baxcalibur and Galar’s Rillaboom, with the Legendary Pokémon Heatran confirmed to join the battle roster in an upcoming update.

Pokémon GO Celebrates 10 Years: Mega Evolutions in the GO Battle League

Marking its 10th anniversary since launching in the summer of 2016, Pokémon GO introduced substantial updates to its core battle mechanics:

The Aeos Island battlefield continues to expand, with four new playable roster additions confirmed for Pokémon UNITE:
